Stanley Maloy

Stanley Maloy

Stanley Maloy is Professor of Biology and Dean of the College of Sciences at San Diego State University. He received a BS degree in biological sciences from the University of California, Irvine; an MS in microbiology from California State University, Long Beach; and a PhD in molecular biology and biochemistry from the University of California, Irvine. Following a postdoctoral fellowship in genetics at the University of Utah, he was on the faculty at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign for many years. From 2005 to 2006, Maloy served as President of the American Society for Microbiology. He has organized numerous courses and conferences in the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Asia. He has authored several books and has won multiple awards for teaching. His research interests include bacterial and phage genetics and the evolution of virulence.
