Roman A. Dyba

Roman Anthony Dyba, Ph.D., joined Motorola/Freescale Semiconductor's DSP Voice Enhancement Department in 2001 as DSP architect. Prior to joining Freescale he worked in the telecommunication industry and in academia. In 1987 he joined Nortel Networks (Brampton, ON) as a senior staff design engineer and contributed to DMS-100 switching systems. While working for Nortel in Canada he taught DSP and Telecommunication Protocols at the University of Toronto. In the late nineties he accepted a research position at Nortel/Micom Division (Simi Valley, CA) to develop DSP algorithms for echo cancellation/voice enhancement in access gateway products. Prior to 1987, Roman was pursuing his academic career at the Institute of Telecommunication and Acoustics, Wroclaw Technical University (Wroclaw, Poland) where he developed, among other things, numerical models of nonlinear wave propagation. Roman is an author/co-author of more than 85 papers, book chapters, standard contributions and other technical contributions. He was awarded 4 patents in the areas of motionless wave generation, general DSP, and echo cancellation; 10 more patents related to echo cancellation/voice enhancement are pending. He is a member of the Acoustical Society of America, Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, and a senior member of the IEEE. Roman holds a Ph.D. degree and M.Sc. degree, both in EE, from Wroclaw Technical University (Wroclaw, Poland).
