Maria Kornakova

Maria Kornakova is a PhD candidate at the Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne. Her research explores the potential to increase and improve the role of urban planning in decreasing disaster risks with a particular focus on role of collaboration between two disciplines. Originally from Uzbekistan, Maria obtained her BA in Architecture from Tashkent Institute of Architecture and Construction, and MA in Urban and Regional Planning from Michigan State University under Fulbright Scholarship. Maria is currently publishing papers and tutoring urban planning theory subjects at the University of Melbourne. Her areas of interest include collaborative planning, disaster management, climate change and decision making processes
